The process of exploring amterials seduces me. I work between control and uncontrol, but I always have a feeling that the work is growing and developping itself. The final work is just the result of the process, rather than that I myself control everything to complete the work. As my work is produced with this concept, they are not self-complete. I do not expect the viewer to try to read the messages bedded in the paintings. Instead, I believe that the work is completed by the dialogue between the painting and the viewer, when he/she is in the space which is created by the painting. They are 'empty', without my messages, but they can be 'full' with the viewer's dialogue with the painting.

Our Mission

It is our commitment to create an environment where professional artists can thrive in their work and their career in the arts, and to establish a place where gallerists, curators, collectors, writers, designers and architects, will find high-quality, fresh and progressive ideas in art. We achieve this by carefully selecting our artists, encouraging their input and supporting their interaction to ensure a better experience while at Juvenal Reis Studios. We continuously create and implement new projects to interact with the greater community of Long Island City through artist talks, workshops, Open Studios, group & solo shows, internships and visiting artist programs.
