Artist's Statement:
In my work as a painter and draftsman, I hold to the doctrine that nature is the ultimate source of all significant form and color in art, and that an
understanding of world traditions in art is important in guiding the artist in how to use nature's forms and colors. A statement like this might
easily have passed without controversy until recently, and would probably have been endorsed by such modern painters as Mondrian, Kandinsky
and Picasso. In light of certain recent trends, it does seem to go a bit against the grain, and so be it. For all that it may mean anything, I consider
myself a modern artist.
